Elon Musk's Starlink has achieved a major milestone by receiving a license to launch satellite services in India, according to Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. This move is accompanied by established frameworks for spectrum allocation, ensuring a seamless deployment.
The announcement aligns with the 30th anniversary of India's first cellular call. Scindia remarked on the enormous strides made in the telecom sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance, where digital access has empowered citizens across the nation, marking significant growth in telephone connections, internet subscriptions, and broadband usage.
Other providers, including Bharti Group-backed Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio SES, are eagerly anticipating their spectrum allocations. With over 83,000 4G sites installed and a rapid 5G rollout covering 99.6% of districts, India stands at the forefront of affordable and inclusive technology worldwide.
