The Income Tax Department's PAN 2.0 project has been awarded to technology consulting firm LTIMindtree, aiming to transform how PAN services operate in the nation's digital framework.
Announced last year by the Union government, the project, with an investment of Rs 1,435 crore approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in November 2024, seeks to make the PAN a 'common business identifier' for government agencies' digital systems.
LTIMindtree, the successful bidder, will operationalize this ambitious project within the next 18 months. Utilizing the latest technologies, PAN 2.0 is set to streamline PAN and TAN processes, enhancing public service quality and grievance mechanisms by offering a comprehensive platform for PAN management tasks.
