Gates Foundation Commits $2.5 Billion to Women's Health by 2030
The Gates Foundation plans to invest $2.5 billion by 2030 to address neglected areas of women's health, focusing on obstetric care and contraceptive innovation. This allocation is part of a broader initiative to advance research and ensure global access to healthcare solutions, following Bill Gates' pledge to give away his fortune.

The Gates Foundation has announced a significant investment of $2.5 billion towards women's health by 2030, addressing long-overlooked issues such as preeclampsia and menopause. Bill Gates emphasized the urgency of this initiative, marking it as one of the Foundation's major commitments since his declaration to donate his wealth by 2045.
Planned efforts will target five key areas: obstetric care, maternal nutrition, menstrual health, contraceptive innovation, and sexually transmitted infections. Dr. Anita Zaidi, the Foundation's head of gender equality, highlighted the scarcity of research and data as barriers to advancing women's health care globally.
Despite the substantial investment, Zaidi indicated that more funding is crucial and urged participation from other sectors, including private enterprises and governments. Previous analysis highlighted that only a small fraction of healthcare spending addressed female-specific conditions beyond cancer, underlining the critical need for this initiative.
