Britain Tightens the Reins on Iranian Oil Magnate and Entities

Britain has sanctioned an Iranian oil magnate and four companies under its Iran sanctions regime, accusing them of aiding Tehran's overseas operations. The sanctions are part of a wider effort to counter hostile activities attributed to the Iranian government, as per a government announcement on Thursday.

The sanctions target Hossein Shamkhani and companies in shipping, petrochemical, and financial sectors, citing their roles in destabilizing the UK and other countries. These measures come after the United States also sanctioned Shamkhani last month.

This move freezes any UK-based assets linked to the entities and prohibits British individuals and businesses from engaging with them, further isolating Iran's network supporting overseas activities.
