Nvidia has directed some component suppliers to halt the production of its H20 AI chip, which was specially designed for the Chinese market, according to insider reports.

The Arizona-based Amkor Technology and South Korea's Samsung Electronics were both notified of this halt. Amkor was handling the advanced packaging of the chip, while Samsung was providing high-bandwidth memory chips.

Neither company has responded to requests for comment, but Nvidia's spokesperson emphasized that the chip is not intended for military or governmental use. This decision follows Chinese government concerns over domestic tech firms' purchases of the H20 chip.
