Chennai-based startup VyomIC has announced its ambitious plan to construct India's first private global satellite constellation, aimed at providing high-precision positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. The initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing global navigation systems.
Founded by IIT-Madras alumni, VyomIC has secured $1.6 million in pre-seed funding from notable investors including Speciale Invest, BYT Capital, and DeVC. This injection of capital will propel the development of their Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based PNT system, focusing on delivering autonomy, security, and precision.
Co-founder Vibhor Jain emphasizes the transformative potential of VyomIC's technology, poised to offer spoofing-proof, jamming-resistant signals with superior precision and coverage. The startup envisions not only advancing navigation in autonomous and defense fields but also unlocking indoor PNT capabilities, thereby addressing a fundamental infrastructure requirement in modern civilization.
