A Dutch court has issued a ruling requiring Meta Platforms to offer users of its Facebook and Instagram services simpler timeline options that do not rely on profiling.
Citing parts of the platforms' designs as non-compliant with the European Union's Digital Services Act, the court mandates that Meta must provide a 'direct and simple' method for users to opt out of recommended content timelines.
The court has given Meta a two-week deadline to implement these changes, despite no immediate response from the company to requests for comment.
