Internet Disruptions in Russia: A Security Measure

President Vladimir Putin has stated that disruptions to internet services across Russia are vital for security reasons. However, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the functionality of key internet services.

Recently, Moscow experienced a nearly three-week mobile internet shutdown, and similar measures are regularly taken in other regions. These actions are justified by the perceived threat of Ukrainian drones that could exploit the internet to guide attacks.

The Federal Security Service (FSB), the main body inheriting the Soviet KGB's responsibilities, is tasked with overseeing internal security and implementing these precautionary measures.
