In a recent advisory, the Rajasthan police have highlighted a new cybercrime tactic where fraudsters are using the wedding season as an opportunity to scam individuals through fake digital wedding invitations on WhatsApp.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Cyber Crime), Shantanu Kumar Singh, reported that these scams often involve sending malicious APK files labeled as 'marriage.apk,' which, once installed, can compromise personal data and potentially result in bank fraud.
Authorities advise users to be cautious of any file ending in '.apk' or suspicious links, especially those prompting for personal information or installing software secretly in the background. Such vigilance is crucial to safeguarding personal and financial data.
