Ion Exchange ties up with German firm to locally produce advanced filtration membranes

Water and environmental management solutions provider Ion Exchange (India) Ltd has entered into a strategic technology transfer and manufacturing collaboration with Germany-based filtration technology firm MANN+HUMMEL to produce advanced membranes in the country. The tie-up brings together MANN+HUMMEL Water & Membrane Solutions' expertise in membrane technology with Ion Exchange's strong manufacturing capabilities. Under the agreement, Ion Exchange will manufacture, undertake system integration and commercialise PVDF hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes, a statement said on Wednesday. Production will take place at Ion Exchange's expanded membrane manufacturing facility in Goa, it added. The collaboration will enable the company to deliver globally benchmarked membrane technology manufactured locally, reduce import dependence and ensure improved supply reliability and faster delivery timelines for customers, Sridhar Padmanaban, Senior Vice President, Ion Exchange, said. It will enable Ion Exchange to offer an integrated portfolio of membrane-based technologies, including Ultrafiltration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) systems. Ion Exchange provides integrated solutions for water and wastewater treatment, recycling, desalination and high-purity water across industries. Germany, Ludwigsburg-based MANN+HUMMEL is a global leader in filtration technology.
