Pentagon Collaborates with AI Titans, Excludes Controversial Startup

The Pentagon announced partnerships with seven major AI companies to introduce their sophisticated capabilities into its classified networks, diversifying AI utilization within the military. Notably absent from this list is Anthropic, a company previously identified by the Pentagon as a supply-chain risk due to disputes over AI application guardrails.

Participating companies, including SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, NVIDIA, Reflection, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services, will enhance Pentagon's network Impact Levels 6 and 7, broadening military access to their products. Google has signed a deal to facilitate the Department of Defense's use of its AI models for classified purposes, as confirmed by a source to Reuters.

Despite Anthropic's exclusion, President Donald Trump hinted at a potential reversal of the company's Pentagon blacklist status. Meanwhile, the Pentagon's main AI platform, GenAI.mil, continues to serve over 1.3 million personnel in just five months of operation.
