A newly established human rights organisation, the Baloch Advocacy and Studies Centre (BASC), has launched in London with the mission of exposing and addressing systemic human rights abuses faced by the Baloch people in Iran and Pakistan. As an independent, non-partisan group, BASC aims to shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked struggles of the Baloch population.
Speaking on behalf of BASC, a spokesperson emphasized the severe oppression faced by the Baloch, calling them 'among the most systematically oppressed and least internationally acknowledged peoples in the region.' Through research, outreach, and global collaborations, BASC is determined to ensure the Baloch people are heard, leading to meaningful changes. The organisation, founded by seasoned human rights advocates, researchers, and writers, strives to secure international recognition for the Baloch's quest for dignity, justice, and self-determination.
BASC's leadership includes President Fariba Baloch, Vice-President Hassan Kosa, General Secretary Qambar Malik, and Deputy General Secretary Abdollah Aref. In charge of research is Khurshid Ahmed, together with associates Aisha Baloch and Abdol Ghayoum Bijad. The communications sector is led by Mohsin Burhanzahi, with Yasir Baloch serving as the Technical Officer. This team intends to leverage their expertise and commitment in the fight for human rights using data verification, rigorous methodologies, and evidence-based reporting to document abuses.
The organisation's documentation efforts aim to hold governments, human rights groups, and international bodies accountable, urging policy reforms. Beyond documentation, BASC also supports the Baloch diaspora, offering resources, training, and advocacy platforms to strengthen their role in the global human rights dialogue. 'We believe it's time the world heard the voices of the Baloch,' a spokesperson declared. 'BASC is determined these voices fuel justice, reform, and global acknowledgment.'
The inception of BASC is a pivotal moment in promoting the Baloch cause internationally, with a major human rights report anticipated later this year. (ANI)
