The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has penned an urgent appeal to Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister Prahalad Joshi, demanding a ban on the sale of Pakistani flags and merchandise on e-commerce platforms within India.
In a letter addressed to the Union minister, BC Bhartia, National President of CAIT, expressed deep concern over the availability of Pakistani-themed products on major e-commerce sites, including Amazon and Flipkart. This issue emerges at a time when India is engaged in 'Operation Sindoor', a critical mission against Pakistan. Bhartia highlighted the insensitivity of these sales while Indian soldiers fight to protect the nation.
CAIT emphasized that the sale of such items is not just disrespectful to Indian armed forces but also threatens the nation's internal unity and security. The traders' body has called for immediate government intervention to halt these sales and enforce stricter compliance on e-commerce operations. They also demand an investigation into the listing of these products, along with penalties for platforms violating national sentiments.
