Cyprus Aids in Middle East Evacuations amidst Rising Tensions
Cyprus is assisting in the evacuation of citizens from Portugal and Slovakia amid Middle East tensions. Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos confirmed the requests, highlighting road access challenges. Cyprus airports are receiving diverted flights as airlines halt travel to conflict-stricken Israel. Croatian citizens also seek evacuation assistance.

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Cyprus has stepped forward to assist in the evacuation of citizens from Portugal and Slovakia, as confirmed by Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos on Monday.
These active requests depend significantly on the ability of civilians to access neighboring countries by road. With the situation deteriorating, Cyprus has already activated a mechanism intended to aid the evacuation of third-country nationals when necessary.
Cyprus airports, including Larnaca and Paphos, are receiving numerous flights diverted from the Middle East, as airlines have ceased operations to and from Israel. With Iran's missile strikes affecting Israeli cities, the need for evacuation grows, as seen with 28 Croatian citizens expressing the desire to leave Israel.
