The Indian grappling team shone brightly at the Grappling World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, held from June 12 to June 15, 2025. Comprising athletes guided by the Grappling Committee of India, the team finished second by clinching an impressive 44 medals, including 3 gold, 13 silver, and 28 bronze.

Notably, Gujarat's wrestlers made a significant impact with three athletes securing 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Mr. Subhash Dawar, Chairman of the Gujarat Grappling Wrestling Association in Surat, praised the efforts of his state's athletes, highlighting contributions from Arpit Rana, Rudra Hirpara, and Priya Rathore as pivotal to the overall success.

Beyond individual performances, this success underscores the increasing prominence of grappling in India, a hybrid of wrestling and mixed martial arts. Indian wrestlers' consistent achievements on international platforms, including triumphs in the previous year's Moscow World Championship, illustrate a growing enthusiasm and dedication to this sport across the nation.
