India’s Coffee Board Boosts Exports Amid EU Deforestation Compliance Efforts
The Coffee Board is collaborating with producers to meet EU Deforestation Regulation requirements. India's coffee exports have grown significantly, with efforts to boost easy business practices and support startups. The board is also working with Indian Missions to expand the export market.
The Coffee Board is diligently working with commodity producers to adhere to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), set to be implemented in December 2025, an official noted on Thursday.
The EUDR aims to curb the importation of goods associated with deforestation into the European Union. Products under its purview include coffee, leather, and paper, among others.
Coffee Board CEO M Kurma Rao emphasized their regular engagement with farmers to raise awareness and ensure these regulations do not adversely impact them. Additionally, Rao highlighted India's strong coffee export growth, which surged by 40% to USD 1.8 billion in 2024-25, driven by rising global demand for Robusta coffee.
