Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the second Vande Bharat Express destined for Gorakhpur, according to Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar. The announcement follows Kumar's inspection of Gorakhpur Junction alongside North Eastern Railway officials to assess ongoing developments and future plans.
The new Vande Bharat Express will improve connectivity between Patliputra and Gorakhpur, stopping at Muzaffarpur and Narkatiaganj along the way. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance transportation links in the region, bolstered by substantial infrastructure upgrades at Gorakhpur Junction.
The station's redevelopment under the Rs 500-crore Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to offer world-class amenities, including a roof plaza, lounges, food courts, and accessibility features for differently-abled passengers. A significant boost to the region's railway budget promises further developments and new construction projects across eastern Uttar Pradesh.
