Aviation Ministry Tightens Safety Amid AI171 Crash

In response to the tragic Air India AI171 crash near Ahmedabad, the Civil Aviation Ministry has conducted a thorough review of safety measures, passenger services, and airline performance. This review follows recent flight rescheduling due to unforeseen circumstances, including post-accident checks and geopolitical airspace closures.

Chaired by Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, the meeting underscored the need for close collaboration with airlines to swiftly address passenger concerns. Enhanced measures include ensuring availability of food and water during delays, efficient grievance handling, and reinforced wildlife hazard management. The ministry remains committed to transparency throughout the ongoing AAIB investigation.

Air India, facing reduced aircraft availability, will temporarily scale down operations. Affected passengers will be rebooked or given refunds. Meetings with leading airlines like Spice Jet, Indigo, and Akasa focused on safety oversight and passenger convenience. The AAIB has made progress in site documentation and evidence collection, while investigating the Boeing 787-800 crash.
