A technical issue in the overhead electric wire system at Palghar station, located over 100 km from Mumbai, led to significant disruptions in Mumbai's suburban and long-distance train services on Friday evening.
The problem, identified at 6.55 pm, caused numerous trains to halt in both directions, affecting passengers during the evening rush hour. In response, the Western Railway dispatched a tower wagon, a specialized vehicle for maintaining overhead electrification systems, to the site for immediate intervention.
The cause of the fault remains unidentified, and restoration work is underway as officials strive to resume regular train operations.
