Relatives and friends bid an emotional farewell to Irfan Shaikh, a young crew member of Air India, whose life was tragically cut short following a plane crash in Ahmedabad last week. His remains were interred at Pimpri Chinchwad in Maharashtra on Saturday.

After a DNA match confirmed his identity, the Shaikh family received 22-year-old Irfan's remains, which were transported to Pune in the early hours of the day. The somber final rites took place at a graveyard in Nehru Nagar, attended by grieving family members, neighbors, friends, and leaders from various political parties.

Irfan was on the ill-fated London-bound Air India flight, AI 171, which crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 21. The disaster claimed the lives of 241 people aboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and an additional 29 on the ground. Having joined the aviation industry two years ago, Irfan aspired to succeed in the field. However, the tragic accident ended his ambitious journey abruptly.
