Cochin Shipyard Secures Major Tug Order Boosting Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative
Cochin Shipyard Limited has received a new order for two 70-tonne Bollard Pull Tugs from Polestar Maritime Ltd., following a previous order of three. The total value of the contract is approximately Rs 120 crore, with the tugs designed by Canada's Robert Allan Limited.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has announced the receipt of a new order for two 70-tonne Bollard Pull Tugs from Polestar Maritime Ltd., further solidifying its presence in the maritime sector.
This latest order follows an earlier deal with Udupi-Coastal Shipyard Ltd, a full subsidiary of CSL. Valued at Rs 120 crore, the project will enhance Polestar Maritime's fleet, known for its expertise in harbor tugs and marine towing services.
The tugs, featuring designs by the globally acclaimed Robert Allan Limited, align with the Indian government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, promoting domestic maritime production. They will be constructed in Kochi, powered by state-of-the-art engines from Niigata IHI Power Systems of Japan.
