In a pointed critique, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritizing slogans over substantive solutions, as India's manufacturing sector struggles despite the 'Make in India' initiative. Gandhi highlighted the concerning rise in youth unemployment and the doubling of imports from China since the initiative's launch in 2014.
Speaking in Delhi's Nehru Place, Gandhi criticized the difference between 'Made in India' and 'Assembled in India,' stressing the need for a true manufacturing shift. He pointed out the rollback of the PLI scheme and urged for honest reforms that empower local producers.
Gandhi's remarks also tackled social issues such as the caste system's impact on power distribution in India. He underscored the need for transparency and respect for skilled labor, linking this to his call for a nationwide caste census.
