A tragic explosion at Sigachi Industries' pharma plant in Telangana's Sangareddy district has claimed the lives of at least 12 individuals, including several migrant workers from Bihar. The incident on Monday also left 34 people injured, prompting both the governor and the chief minister of Bihar to express their sorrow.
In response to the tragedy, the Bihar government announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. However, officials have refrained from specifying the exact number of affected migrant workers from Bihar.
The chief minister of Bihar has instructed the Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to ensure the return of the deceased to their families and oversee the medical care of the injured. The state continues to coordinate with Telangana officials to address the aftermath of the explosion.
