In a remarkable display of bravery, seven migrant workers from India will meet with Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana presidential palace. The workers were involved in a daring rescue operation last Saturday when they saved a woman from a car trapped in a sinkhole.
Invited to the Istana Open House, the workers have been acknowledged for their quick thinking and courage. A Facebook page for the charity ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) noted that generous contributions from 1,639 donors have raised SGD72,241 for these heroes, to be shared among them.
Acknowledging their valor, President Tharman praised the workers, saying, 'Bravo!' In addition to public congratulations, the Ministry of Manpower's Assurance, Care, and Engagement Group awarded them the ACE Coin, a token of appreciation for their public spiritedness and initiative in times of need.
