Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has confirmed a significant procurement deal with Embraer, as it aims to bolster its fleet with up to 55 of the Brazilian manufacturer's E195-E2 aircraft.

The firm agreement, which includes an initial order for 45 aircraft and an option to purchase 10 additional planes, was announced by SAS CEO Anko van der Werff during a press briefing in Copenhagen.

This strategic move by SAS comes shortly after Embraer experienced a competitive setback when rival Airbus secured a high-profile deal with Poland's national airline, LOT, for 40 A220 jets.
