The devastating explosion at Sigachi Industries' pharma plant in Pashamylaram continues to shock the community, with nine people still missing, according to the district's Superintendent of Police, Paritosh Pankaj.
An expert committee, appointed by the state government to investigate the cause and sequence of this tragic event, is on site. Led by Dr. B Venkateswar Rao, the committee will prepare a detailed report with recommendations for the government.
Amit Raj Sinha, Managing Director & CEO of Sigachi, denied that outdated machines contributed to the disaster, suggesting instead that a dust explosion in the dryer section was the likely cause. Sigachi has promised a solatium for the victims' families as investigations proceed.
