Mizoram Rajya Sabha Member K. Vanlalvena has brought attention to the escalating issue of high airfares between Aizawl and Delhi. During a meeting with Parliamentary floor leaders in New Delhi, the MP voiced his concern over the significant price hike, particularly during peak holiday seasons.
Vanlalvena, sharing personal experience, mentioned a steep Rs 25,951 fare he incurred when flying to Delhi on July 9 via IndiGo Airlines. Interestingly, he noted this fare exceeded that of flights from Delhi to Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, indicating disproportionate rates on domestic routes.
His remarks have resonated with several attending leaders, drawing attention to the need for a review of domestic airfare pricing strategies to balance costs, especially in light of such disparities hampering travelers.
