In a significant move aimed at empowering women, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced the issuance of 'zero fare tickets' under a free bus travel scheme set to commence on August 15. The initiative, part of the TDP's 'Super Six' guarantees for the 2024 elections, aims to provide clarity on savings and government subsidies to beneficiaries.
The zero fare tickets will detail the route traveled, the amount saved, and the complete subsidy afforded by the government, as per an official release. Naidu emphasized that these details would enhance awareness among women about the benefits they receive. Additionally, he mandated the development of necessary software for implementing this system.
As the scheme's launch approaches, Naidu discussed its financial implications and urged the APSRTC to explore alternative revenue streams and operational efficiencies. He also advocated for the procurement of air-conditioned electric buses and the establishment of charging stations at APSRTC depots.
