Ford Motor Company is taking action by recalling more than 694,000 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles over potential safety concerns linked to fuel injector cracks that can cause fires. The recall impacts specific models, including the 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Escape with 1.5L engines.

This major recall follows ongoing investigations since 2022 into the fuel injector issue. Vehicles have been recalled multiple times, and software updates were performed in November 2022, March 2024, and March 2025. As investigation continues, Ford identified that eight vehicles experienced underhood fires due to this problem.

To address the issue, Ford's field review committee recently decided to offer complimentary engine control software updates for affected vehicles. The first notification letter to vehicle owners is expected to be sent out on August 18, with a second letter to follow when a final solution is available. Vehicle owners can reach out to Ford's customer service for assistance.
