Alaska Airlines announced on Monday that it had to cancel 7% of its scheduled flights due to a critical hardware failure at its data centers, leading to a significant disruption in operations.

The airline noted that more than 150 flights have been canceled since Sunday evening, when a halt in flights was put into effect for about three hours before operations resumed late that night.

Alaska Airlines clarified that the IT outage was neither related to other ongoing events nor a result of a cybersecurity breach, as further flight schedule disruptions could occur while they work to reposition aircraft and crews.
