At the High Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development Goals held at the United Nations Headquarters, Suman Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, emphasized India's status as an 'anchor of stability' amid global economic uncertainties. Bery highlighted India's unique strengths and experience in offering new engines of growth and scalable development models to the world.
In a speech, he praised India's vibrant democracy and socio-economic advancements driven by inclusive digital technologies and principled reforms. He also noted that India's development journey serves as a model for developing nations, citing the substantial poverty reduction in India over the past decade as evidence of scalable and inclusive progress.
Further, Bery reaffirmed India's commitment to fostering change across the Global South and emphasized the importance of a representative UN that can act as a catalyst for sustainable development. As global challenges loom, he called for urgent efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
