Business confidence among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has shown improvement in the April-June quarter, thanks to steady domestic demand and an accommodating financial environment, according to the latest MSME Outlook Survey released by SIDBI on Wednesday.
The survey revealed that the Composite MSME Business Confidence Index (M-BCI) increased to 63.75 during the quarter, up from 60.82 previously. This positive shift is primarily driven by gains in manufacturing and trading sectors, while the services sector showed marginal decline.
The MSME Business Expectations Index (M-BEI) also indicates promising prospects, with values of 62.19 for July-September and 67.88 for the next fiscal's first quarter. Despite global challenges like tariffs and trade volatility, optimism remains high as 88% of respondents reported better access to finance and improved profitability, amid signs of decreased borrowing costs.
