India is set to export 5,841 tonnes of sugar to the European Union for the fiscal year 2025-26 under its tariff-rate quota (TRQ) scheme, according to a notification issued on Friday.

The TRQ allows a set volume of sugar exports to enter the EU with reduced tariffs, beyond which higher tariffs come into effect on additional volumes. Officially announced by the Director General of Foreign Trade, the quota spans from October 2025 to September 2026.

APEDA will oversee the allocation of the quota, issuing Certificates of Origin for exporters meeting the established criteria, ensuring eligibility in collaboration with the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade in Mumbai.
