West Bengal has shown a significant year-on-year increase of 12% in its Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for July 2025, as per provisional data released by the Centre, announced Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday.

The state achieved Rs 5,895 crore in GST revenue for the month, compared to Rs 5,257 crore collected in July of the previous year, Banerjee noted in a post on social media platform X.

Addressing current economic conditions, Banerjee cited a 7.71% cumulative growth rate in GST revenues as an indicator of business improvement and consumer confidence in West Bengal, countering opposition allegations of economic downturn in the region.
