The UAE took a further stance by preventing a Sudanese airliner from taking off from Abu Dhabi airport, according to the same authority. Sudan expressed surprise at this development, stating efforts are underway to adjust travel plans for passengers affected by the decision.
Diplomatic ties between the two countries were severed by Sudan in May, amidst accusations that the UAE supplied the Rapid Support Forces with advanced weaponry during Sudan's recent civil conflict. The UAE continues to refute these allegations.
