In a tragic road accident in Kottarakkara on Thursday morning, two women lost their lives after being run over by a speeding truck while waiting at a bus stop. The victims, aged 42 and 23, succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital, according to local police authorities.
A 50-year-old autorickshaw driver was also critically injured after the truck collided with his vehicle. He was initially treated at the taluk hospital but was later transferred to the Thiruvananthapuram medical college for advanced care.
Authorities have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the truck driver, who, along with the cleaner, fled the scene immediately after the incident. CCTV footage captured the heartbreaking accident, showing the truck hitting the women and the autorickshaw before coming to a halt a short distance away.
