The Ahmednagar railway station in Maharashtra has been officially renamed Ahilyanagar in a tribute to Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. Officials confirmed the change on Tuesday.

The state government, after receiving approval from the Union Home Ministry, announced the new name last week. This follows a prior decision to rename the entire Ahmednagar district to Ahilyanagar.

Despite the change in name, the station's code remains 'ANG'. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, among others, had previously advocated for the renaming, reflecting the city's new designation.
