Drone Assault Disrupts Power and Rail in Central Ukraine
An overnight drone attack on Ukraine's Kirovohrad region by Russian forces disrupted power and railway operations. The assault partially cut off electricity to 44 settlements and damaged infrastructure, with no casualties reported. Ukrainian authorities quickly mobilized reserves to mitigate the impact on the transport network.

An overnight drone attack by Russian forces on Ukraine's central Kirovohrad region has resulted in significant disruptions, officials confirmed on Wednesday. Power supply cuts affected the regional center along with 44 settlements, as reported by Andriy Raykovych on the Telegram app. Moreover, several private homes suffered damage, and railway operations were interrupted.
Emergency services have been tackling fires at multiple sites, though fortunately no casualties have been reported. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba stated the attacks aimed to incapacitate railway infrastructure. He highlighted the strategic goal of these strikes as disrupting transport and straining both the public and the economy.
In response to this attack, Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ukrainian state railway operator, quickly deployed more than 20 backup locomotives to alleviate the aftermath's impact on passenger and freight movement.
