Drone Strikes and Rail Attacks: Russia's Strategic Moves in Ukraine

Russian forces escalated their offensive against Ukraine by targeting critical railway infrastructure, leaving five people wounded in the Poltava region, officials reported Thursday. An attack in the Myrhorod district injured one and ignited several fires, according to regional governor Volodymyr Kohut on Telegram.

Ukraine's state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, confirmed that the assault resulted in power outages, delaying passenger trains by up to three hours. Russian attacks on Ukrainian rail systems have increased, hitting hubs in Kharkiv and Donetsk and causing disruptions in Kirovohrad regions.

A concurrent drone strike in the Poltava region damaged a fuel station, sparking a fire and injuring four. The Ukrainian air force reported shooting down 48 of 75 drones launched by Russia, despite 26 successfully striking six sites.
