In a bold move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced an ambitious plan to transition all public transport vehicles to electric by 2026. The new EV Policy, labeled as EV Policy 2.0, is currently in development.
Speaking at the SIAM event, Gupta highlighted the urgent need for changing driving behaviors to prevent accidents. She criticized the culture of not wearing seat belts and called for stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
The government's new policy comes amidst ongoing challenges like traffic congestion and pollution in Delhi. Stakeholder consultations are underway, with the focus on encouraging EV adoption to improve air quality in the capital.
