Shipbuilding Resurgence: India's Path to Maritime Power

In a bold assertion of India's maritime ambitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a renewed focus on self-reliance, particularly in the shipbuilding sector. Speaking at the 'Samudra se Samruddhi' event, Modi underscored the importance of reducing foreign dependency for economic strength.

Modi launched several projects worth Rs 34,200 crore and announced reforms to streamline processes at India's ports, underlining a major shift toward indigenous production. Criticizing past policies, he highlighted the economic loss from relying on foreign shipping firms, urging domestic growth in shipbuilding.

With new policies and investments surpassing Rs 70,000 crore, the government aims to boost the maritime sector, supporting technology adoption and improving infrastructure. Modi's vision positions India's shipyards as central to future prosperity, setting the groundwork for global competitiveness and economic self-reliance.
