Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has entered into a contract valued at USD 62.44 million with a company based in Hamburg for the construction of four hybrid multi-purpose vessels.

This agreement, which includes an option for two additional ships, is part of GRSE's efforts under the 7,500 DWT project currently underway at its Kolkata shipyard.

The new vessels, measuring 120 meters in length and 17 meters in width, will feature battery-assisted hybrid technology and enhanced fuel efficiency, supporting the International Maritime Organization's decarbonization goals. Capable of carrying 7,500 tonnes, these ships will cater to diverse cargo needs, including windmill blades for renewable energy logistics.
