New GST Reforms Hailed as Diwali Gift by Political Leaders

The Manipur BJP lauded the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, describing the lowered tax rates as a 'Diwali gift to the nation.' The GST Council's decision to reduce rates came into effect on September 22, marking the start of Navratri.

Laimayum Bashanta Sharma, BJP Manipur spokesperson, highlighted the reforms as a landmark decision that simplifies the tax structure, reduces rates on everyday essentials, and eases compliance burdens, including automated refunds and streamlined MSME registrations.

Other political figures, including JD(U)'s Maisnam Dorendro and NPP's Yumnam Joykumar, echoed support for the reforms, noting that they would assist individuals in saving money and stimulate economic growth.
