The government has announced an extension for the submission of new applications under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the textile sector, pushing the deadline to December 31. This move is in response to the large volume of applications received since the invitation round began in August 2025.

The affected sectors include Man-Made Fibre (MMF) Apparel, MMF Fabrics, and Technical Textiles. The extension is seen as a recognition of the industry's significant interest in the scheme, which aims to attract more investors and enable them to gain benefits.

The Ministry of Textiles noted the industry's growing demand and confidence in domestic manufacturing. As of now, 74 companies have committed a total investment of Rs 28,711 crore as beneficiaries of the PLI scheme. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their proposals online.
