Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to unveil the 'Auto Driverla Sevalo' scheme, aimed at providing financial relief to over 2.9 lakh auto and cab drivers across the state. The initiative, slated for Saturday, will offer Rs 15,000 annually to each eligible driver.
The state government has allocated Rs 436 crore to facilitate direct transfers of this aid into the accounts of the beneficiaries. The scheme highlights the NDA coalition's approach to expand coverage and increase financial support compared to the previous YSRCP government.
While not part of the original manifesto, the program seeks to mitigate the impact of the 'Stree Shakti' scheme, which offers free bus travel for women. In addition, the administration has lowered the green tax on older vehicles and invested heavily in road improvements to further assist drivers.
