ALPA India Pushes for Role in AI 171 Crash Investigation
ALPA India has raised concerns over its exclusion from the Air India crash probe team investigating the June accident that killed 260 people. Despite discussions with the AAIB, government norms prevent the inclusion of ALPA India's representatives. The group remains hopeful for future collaborations to enhance investigation processes.

On Friday, ALPA India sought inclusion in the investigation into the Air India crash in June, which claimed 260 lives. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) cited government norms for declining the request. Discussions with AAIB Director General GVG Yugandhar were held in New Delhi.
ALPA India emphasized the importance of having aviation experts, particularly pilots, involved in accident investigations. President Sam Thomas noted limited discussion on the crash specifics, given the ongoing probe, but indicated AAIB's agreement to include them in future meetings.
The organization hopes its involvement will bring valuable insights, supporting safer aviation outcomes. The preliminary report highlighted technical lapses, and the Supreme Court criticized the selective release of information for media narratives.
