A tragic road accident claimed two lives and injured three others in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district when a speeding lorry collided with a government vehicle on National Highway-6 late Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Sanbirth M. Momin, a driver with the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, and Smart Sangma. Meanwhile, police are investigating if the lorry swerved across lanes, as stated in their preliminary findings.
Authorities confirmed the lorry driver and handyman, under hospital care, will face arrest. This accident comes just days after a crash involving four teenage girls, intensifying calls for better road safety along NH-6.
