Amidst the ongoing fuel crisis, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced that over 17.25 lakh 5 kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders have been sold since March 23, 2026. The initiative aims to bolster the availability of cooking fuel during challenging times.

The government's strategy focuses on aiding vulnerable sections, particularly migrant laborers, by increasing the distribution of smaller LPG cylinders. Despite global geopolitical tensions, the ministry emphasized the unfaltering supply to domestic sectors and prioritized allocation across various sectors to cater to demand efficiently.

Active measures have been rolled out to streamline LPG distribution, including heightened refinery production and on-ground initiatives to promote portable cylinders. Furthermore, enforcement raids have been intensified to prevent misuse. Separately, the Ministry of Ports assured that maritime operations remain unaffected, maintaining normalcy at Indian ports.
