In a significant industrial dispute, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd faced protests from its employees at its Uttarakhand unit, voicing demands for fair wages and reduced working hours. The situation escalated, leading to a temporary work halt.
By Tuesday, most of the 500-strong workforce resumed duties after management and labor reached an agreement on 12 out of 14 demands. However, a vocal minority continued their protest, seeking assurance on a minimum wage and an adjusted shift schedule.
The unrest saw local political figures entering the fray, with authorities detaining opposition leader Harish Paneru. The police maintained a strong presence to uphold order, their intervention reminiscent of recent similar unrest in Noida.
