An Indian crew member was among seafarers on vessels recently seized by Iran amid escalating maritime tensions near the Strait of Hormuz.

Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways confirmed the safety of all Indian seafarers involved in the incident. This development arises following the seizure of two foreign container ships and firing on a third by Iranian forces, allegedly in response to U.S. naval activities.

While Tehran claimed the ships violated transit rules, British maritime sources suggested at least one had clearance. The geopolitical standoff underscores the risks of navigating this strategic waterway.
